June 15 – October 31, 2025

Island Trails is thrilled to launch the Great Island Trails Scavenger Hunt, a free, family-friendly adventure inviting Islanders and visitors alike to explore PEI’s trail system and discover the small wonders hidden along the way.
This summer-long scavenger hunt builds on the success of last year’s Island Trails Challenge—adding a playful twist to your hikes with six nature-inspired photo prompts on each trail. The idea? To slow down, look closer, and really see the magic around us.

Here’s how it works:
1. Visit https://linktr.ee/islandtrails to access your Participant Package, which includes a list of trails and what to find on each one.
2. As you hike, photograph these six elements on each trail:
– A bug
– Two kinds of mushrooms
– A bench
– A body of water (or water droplets)
– An Island Trails sign
– A moment of joy (yes—smiles count!)
3. After each trail, submit your trail completion and photos through the Trail Tracker & Photo Upload Form (also found at https://linktr.ee/islandtrails) .
4. Complete them all and earn your official Island Trails Finisher Badge—plus an invite to a celebration event this fall!

We kicked things off on June 15 with a great turnout at Bogside Brewing Co. in Montague, followed by a kid-friendly scavenger hunt on the Confederation Trail. It was the perfect Father’s Day activity—nature, laughter, and more than a few solid Dad jokes along the way.
We were also proud to premiere the brand-new Island Trails video: “One Trail, a Hundred Stories” at the event—a visual love letter to the landscapes we steward and the community we serve. If you missed it, stay tuned to our socials—we’ll be sharing it soon!
Board member Judith Mendiolea, part of the creative team behind the scavenger hunt, captured its spirit beautifully:
“We designed the scavenger hunt not just to get people moving, but to help them see—to notice the small things they might otherwise miss… It’s about attention, memory, and well-being.”
Island Trails: Powered by Volunteers
This project wouldn’t be possible without the incredible efforts of our volunteer board, especially Judith Mendiolea and Bob Nicholson, who played key roles in bringing this year’s scavenger hunt to life. Island Trails is proudly volunteer-run, and our work—trail maintenance, signage, events, and more—is fueled by community support.
If you value PEI’s trail system, consider becoming a member. It’s a small step that makes a lasting impact.
And don’t forget to follow @islandtrailsca on Facebook and Instagram for scavenger hunt updates and surprise pop-up events happening all summer long!
See you on the trails!
