Feed the Body, Feed the Soul

This spring, Island Trails is launching a brand-new community initiative rooted in a simple idea: when we care for our bodies and our spirits, we strengthen our communities.
Hike for the Food Bank: Feed the Body, Feed the Soul will run throughout the month of May, inviting Islanders to get outside, explore the province’s incredible trail network, and support PEI Food Banks along the way.
Launch Day on May 2
The event officially kicks off on May 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m , with welcoming tables set up at trails across all three counties:
- Prince County: Forestview Trail
- Queens County: Winter River Hiking Trail
- Kings County: Boughton River Nature Trail
Visitors are encouraged to stop in, say hello, learn more about Island Trails and PEI Food Banks, and contribute if they’re able—either through a monetary donation or by dropping off non-perishable food items.
A Month-Long Invitation to Give Back
After launch day, the initiative continues throughout the entire month of May.
At trailheads across Prince Edward Island, visitors will see signage featuring a QR code that links directly to the PEI Food Banks donation page. Whether you’re heading out for a short walk or a longer hike, you’ll have the opportunity to easily support the campaign—right from the trail.
There’s no formal registration. No pressure. Just an open invitation to take part in a way that feels right for you.
Why This Matters
For Island Trails, the connection is a natural one. Spending time on a trail—breathing fresh air, moving your body, and being in nature—has a real impact on wellbeing. Trails nourish the soul. At the same time, PEI Food Banks play a critical role in ensuring Islanders have access to the food they need to nourish their bodies. Bringing these two ideas together creates a simple but meaningful way to support both personal wellbeing and community care.
Join Us
As spring returns and Islanders head back outdoors, Hike for the Food Bank offers an impactful way to give back.
Take a walk. Visit a favourite trail. Discover somewhere new. And if you’re able, consider making a donation along the way.
Island Trails is proud to launch what we hope will become an annual tradition—supporting our community while celebrating the simple, powerful act of getting outside.
