Habitat and heritage are the focus of the trail experience on Prince Edward Island. Nature and culture meet to create our unique landscape.
Prince Edward Island’s trails offer unlimited opportunities for nature lovers, artists, historians, photographers, berry-pickers and anyone looking for a quiet place to spread a blanket for an afternoon picnic.
Trails pass through woods and fields, villages and towns. Trekkers and cyclists have a chance to stop, shop, have a snack and dine out. In winter many trails are turned over to snowmobilers, making an excellent cross-Island network that even connects to several motels and conveniences for door to door adventure.
Travelers to the Island and Islanders themselves have enjoyed the pastoral landscape, woodlands and rivers between tiny Island communities for generations. Prince Edward Island’s trails offer the chance to enjoy ‘off the beaten path’ sights, scents, and sounds. Trails offer an alternate perspective on the life of the Island at a pedestrian pace if you know where and how to look.
Prince Edward Island’s network of trails are as varied as the patchwork of cultures which blend to create our distinctive nature. Trails weave through woodlots, along beaches, through fields, and along abandoned rail beds. Whether you choose to spend an afternoon exploring nature and getting some exercise, or a weekend cycling trip, this site will serve to assist you in organizing your outing.
